St Just has twice weekly music at The Star pub, and monthly music nights at the Dog and Rabbit cafe. The Old Town Hall, and The Knut are both venues that host various music, comedy or theatre events throughout the year.

The Plen an Gwarry is an ancient ampitheatre right in the centre of St Just, and is also the venue for outdoor events, mostly during the summer, such as the Lafrowda Ceilidh, and the Miracle Theatre.

The main occasion for festivities in St Just is Lafrowda festival at the end of July - a fortnight long celebration of local art and culture, culminating in a day long event with parades, free music, kids activities, food and craft stalls, and much general silliness.

St Just Feast is a very old tradition, taking place over a weekend at the end of October with a local 'bank holiday' on the Monday.

There are various other seasonal events: around Christmas time there is a Ceilidh, a festival of trees, and lots of church events, recently including a walking nativity.

There is a Gravity car race in May, and an Arts and Crafts fair in August. Bosavern Community Farm host a Maypole dance, and other seasonal open farm activities throughout the year.

Beyond St Just, the Minack Theatre has a summer season of plays, the Acorn Arts Centre in Penzance has a full programme of comedy, drama and live music. There are a couple of night clubs in Penzance, and various pubs and bars hosting live music.

There are cinemas in St Ives, Penzance, and Newlyn - the Penzance venue has been refurbished, the St Ives site is shabby, but it has a bigger main screen. The Newlyn Filmhouse is a Curzon cinema, which shows some less mainstream films, and has a great bar and restaurant.

For art lovers, Penwith has a great many independent galleries. Open Studios in Cornwall takes place at the end of May, and there are lots of artists in this part of Cornwall that participate. There is also a 3 week Arts and Crafts exhibition in Cape Cornwall School hall, which has a vast selection of local art work for sale. The Tate St Ives, Newlyn Art Gallery, and The Exchange in Penzance all have programmes of events and exhibitions.

There are additional performances, events and festivals throughout Penwith, particularly during the summer months - Penzance has Golowan Festival at mid summer, there is the Newlyn Fish Festival, Sea Salt and Sail at Mousehole and St Ives has the September Festival. There is a tourist information leaflet on local festivals, which is available from the local library.
